Kathryn Wall
Kathryn
Wall was born in Indianola and received her teaching
education in McCook. She taught for 30 years beginning in
the Denver school system but returned to the local area,
holding positions in several surrounding communities
before spending her last 13 years teaching in the McCook
school system.
Kathryn has been supporting Community Hospital since 1971,
nearly 15 years longer than Community Hospital Health
Foundation has been in existence. When asked why she began
supporting the hospital, Kathryn said, “At that time my
father was at an advanced age and very ill. I wanted to
help raise money for a new hospital.” Kathryn believes in
the importance of having a hospital in McCook, “close to
home” for all the people we serve. She understands the
hardships people and families must endure when traveling
long distances to receive care. Kathryn would like to see
more services available for cancer patients who are, as
she said, “The least able to travel when they are so
sick.”
Kathryn, a tiny but dynamic lady, has only been a patient
of Community Hospital twice in her life. Recently when she
broke her hip she experienced first hand the importance of
having a hospital and specialist locally where her hip
could be repaired and she could receive post operative and
rehabilitation services. Kathryn is currently residing in
Hillcrest, anxiously looking forward to the day when she
can drive again. As she said, “There is nothing worse than
losing your independence.”
We wish Kathryn a speedy recovery and thank her for the
many years she has supported ‘Better Care for the Good
Life’.
Thank you
