Endowed Scholarship Guidelines

In appreciation for superior healthcare and in understanding the need to recruit and retain a viable healthcare workforce, benefactors have generously provided funds for endowed scholarship accounts. The following are guidelines intended for use by Community Hospital’s Education Committee in reviewing applications and determining scholarship awards from these endowed scholarship funds.

Scholarships are intended for persons showing a desire to practice their professions at Community Hospital upon graduation. However, receiving this scholarship does not guarantee employment, nor does it obligate the recipient to return to Community Hospital.
Students must have attended a minimum of 2 years of High School in Southwest Nebraska. Counties include: Keith, Lincoln, Dawson, Perkins, Chase, Hayes, Frontier, Gosper, Dundy, Hitchcock, Red Willow & Furnas.
Students must have completed prerequisite courses and maintained a grade point average of at least 2.5. Students must already be accepted into an accredited healthcare education program and be a current Community Hospital scholarship recipient.
All awards are paid directly to the school, not the recipient.
Unlike the Scholarship Loan Program at Community Hospital, this scholarship will not be included in forgiveness procedures and will not require repayment.
Applicants must submit a typed essay of 250 words or less entitled, “Why I Have Chosen The Health Field I Am Pursuing”. Applications must include a cover sheet with name, address, telephone number and name and address of school attending.
All selections and decisions are made at the discretion of the Education Committee.
Applications and/or essays are due to the Foundation office by March 15 (spring) or September 15 (fall) for consideration. Send your applications to Community Hospital Health Foundation, PO Box 1328, McCook, NE 69001. For questions call Community Hospital Health Foundation, 308-344-7222.
