Harold & Marion Larmon
Harold and Marion Larmon have given their time, talent
and treasure to both Community Hospital and Community
Hospital Health Foundation for more than 30 years. Harold
served as a founding member (1970-71) of the Community
Hospital board when Community Hospital was built on the
East side of McCook. Marion was an early Community
Hospital Health Foundation board member, serving from 1990
through 1992 as Vice Chair. Together they have supported
Community Hospital through their generous gifts to
Community Hospital Health Foundation, reaching the Founder
level of The Heritage Society, which recognizes donors
whose commitment to the hospital will benefit future
health care in our area. Their years of service and
gifts are only part of their commitment. As Marion said,
“We get involved because we believe in supporting the
community where we live”. Harold grew up in McCook and has
been a resident throughout his life. He and Marion met at
the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. They were married in
1942 and made their home in McCook where Harold retired
after many years as President of First National Bank.
Their two children were born at St. Catherine’s Hospital
and one of their three grandchildren was born at Community
Hospital. Marion remembers the early years of Community
Hospital Health Foundation when the directors were framing
the future of the Foundation’s existence. The Larmons and
others were interested in building an endowment to ensure
the mission of Community Hospital Health Foundation could
be sustained. As they said, “That is why we started
contributing, to give solidarity to the organization”.
On behalf of the many people we serve, I thank Harold and
Marion Larmon for their vision and their commitment to
bringing quality healthcare to our region.
