Joe and Alice Edwards

New Health Career Scholarship Made Possible by Generous
Gift
Joe and Alice Edwards recently established a health career
scholarship with their generous gift of $50,000. Joe,
owner of the familiar Edward’s Machine Shop on East C
Street, has been a long time resident of McCook. Alice
originated from the Cambridge area. She became a widow
when her first husband died at the age of 54. Joe became a
widower in 1984. They have been married for over 17 years.
Both Joe and Alice are strong believers in higher
education. Alice believes she would have had a much easier
time with a profession to fall back on. Joe, successful as
a hard working individual, has always supported higher
education.
With their gift to initiate the “Joe and Alice Edwards
Health Career Scholarship” they fulfill their wish to
assist persons with their educational goals beyond their
lifetime. And, by supporting healthcare careers, they also
give back to the community by helping Community Hospital
grow a quality healthcare team.
Investment income from the endowed fund will provide
$2,500 in scholarships annually. The 10-member Education
Committee at Community Hospital will review applicants.
Joe and Alice will decide if one or two scholarships will
be awarded each year. |
